Jörn was admitted to the German Bar in 2017. Since then, he has focused on counseling and litigating intellectual property rights, in particular technical industrial property rights.
He advises and represents major German and international companies in complex, often transnational, patent disputes. He has litigated cases from various technologies such as telecommunications, consumer electronics, mechanics, and biotechnology. A particular focus is litigating standard essential patents (SEP/Frand). He has been involved in numerous high-profile SEP cases and is familiar with all aspects of the FRAND defense.
He was notably involved in various nullity actions before the German Federal Patents Court and the Federal Court of Justice, as well as in opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office (EPO). In addition, he successfully represented clients before the UPC (Unified Patent Court) Court of First Instance and the Court of Appeal.
Jörn regularly supports his clients in licensing negotiations and other out-of-court proceedings.
He also advises on the protection of know-how, the German Employee Invention Law and all aspects of technical industrial property rights in corporate transactions.
Prior to joining CASALONGA, Jörn worked for an international law firm.
