Henning has extensive experience across a broad range of technical fields, including nanotechnology, materials science, pharmaceuticals, chemical engineering, polymer chemistry, medical engineering, and classical organic and inorganic chemistry. He advises clients on a wide spectrum of intellectual property matters, with particular expertise in prosecution, opposition and appeal proceedings, as well as strategic advisory work.
Active in the patent field for almost 15 years, Henning was admitted as a German Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney in 2017. He holds a Ph.D. in chemistry and focuses his practice on the drafting and prosecution of patent applications in Germany and Europe, as well as on opposition and appeal proceedings. He also regularly advises on patent infringement and freedom-to-operate matters.
His academic research focused in particular on the synthesis of transition metal complexes, especially platinum(II) complexes, and their use as emitters in OLEDs, as well as on the synthesis and functionalization of nanoparticles for applications in nanomedicine and electronics. Towards the end of his studies, he completed a several-month industrial internship at BASF in Guaratinguetá, São Paulo, Brazil, in the field of analytical chemistry.
After working for renowned patent law firms in Hamburg and Munich, Henning joined a leading German IP boutique in 2017 and became a partner there in 2023, before moving to CASALONGA’s Munich office as a partner in 2026.

Henning is a member of the European Patent Institute (epi), the German Patent Attorney Bar Association (Patentanwaltskammer – PAK), the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property and Copyright (Deutsche Vereinigung für gewerblichen Rechtsschutz und Urheberrecht – GRUR), and the German Chemical Society (Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker – GDCh).
