European Patent Litigator
Mandataire agréé près l’OEB
Docteur en chimie
Within our chemistry team, Thomas is involved in the acquisition and defense of IP rights, in particular in drafting patent applications and in patent prosecution (grant and opposition procedures), in France, Europe and abroad.
He also regularly advises clients regarding patentability issues, including providing Freedom to Operate opinions in a pre-litigation context, as well as third-party observations in Europe against strategic patent applications prior to their grant. Thomas also handles opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office (EPO).
His practice focuses on organic chemistry (notably polymer chemistry), materials chemistry (composites, glasses, and alloys), electrochemistry (batteries, electrolysis, fuel cells, and membranes for electrochemical cells), surface chemistry (coatings), environmental chemistry (methanation), and inorganic chemistry.
His technical expertise and experience in intellectual property allow him to advise a wide range of clients, including individual inventors, companies of all sizes – from French or foreign SMEs to multinational corporations – as well as universities and research institutes in France and abroad.
After completing his chemical engineering studies at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Ingénieurs, Thomas defended a PhD in organic chemistry on “the development of hybrid membranes for PEMFCs over a wide operating temperature range” at the CEA under the supervision of Professor Pierre-Jean Madec (University of Caen). He then began his career at CASALONGA in 2013.
