8 February 2017: The British House of Commons approves the Brexit Bill

The Brexit Bill prepared by Ms May, the Prime Minister of the UK, has been approved without amendment by the lower chamber of the British parliament. The Bill will now be sent to the House of Lords for further review. Any amendment now seems very unlikely.

During the discussion of the Bill, amendments were presented and all rejected by a clear majority. One of these amendments called for a new referendum for approving the future deal between the UK and the EU.

The Bill should be finally accepted by the Queen on March 7, allowing the Prime Minister to officially trigger Article 50 of the EU treaty at the next EU summit.
