Practice description
Gwennhaël Le Roy began his career with CASALONGA in 2004 and became partner in 2015.
He focuses on drafting and prosecuting both domestic and foreign patent applications. He also gives opinions on freedom to operate, studies the validity of patent claims.
He also regularly represents clients in patent application proceedings before the European Patent Office, including opposition and appeal proceedings.
He also has experience of patent litigation.
Gwennhaël Le Roy represents a wide range of clients ranging from small start-ups and laboratories to multinational corporations in the fields of organic chemistry, cosmetics, chemistry and physics of materials, synthesis and characterization of polymers, sol-gel processes, colloids, pharmaceutical.

Gwennhaël Le Roy is a Member of the Examination Committees for the European qualifying examination (EQE), aiming at establishing the list of European Patent Attorneys.
He is a member of the French Patent and Trademark association (CNCPI “Compagnie Nationale des Conseils en Propriété Industrielle”) of which he co-chairs the UP & UPC committee. He participates in the Dispute Resolution Committee of the Licensing Executives Society France (LES France) and in the IP Practice in Europe Committee of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA).
He is also a member of the European Patent Institute (epi) and has been elected as a substitute member of the Litigation Committee (LitCom), which considers and discusses all aspects of patent litigation in Europe, in particular on infringement and validity of European Patents, and plays an active role in monitoring, discussing and preparing epi positions on matters concerning the Unitary Patent (UP)/Unified Patent Court (UPC) system.
