Marketing and references to the Olympic & Paralympic Games: what am I allowed to do?

The opening of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games is fast approaching, along with the temptation to celebrate the event in your communications.

However, without a partnership or authorization from the relevant governing bodies, any use of the terms "Olympic Games" or other Olympic and Paralympic properties can be risky and may lead to sanctions for infringement, unfair competition, or parasitic behavior.

The scope of protection is very broad, and the courts are already actively involved.

To help you best prepare your communication strategy, the firm held a conference on January 25, 2024, to discuss the precautions to take in light of this exceptional level of protection.

Following the presentation of the legal aspects by Floriane Codevelle, Pascaline Vincent, Juliette Dionisi and Justine Carton, we were delighted to welcome Nathalie Armstrong, Head of Legal and Commercial Affairs for Paris 2024, as part of the awareness-raising campaign on Paris 2024 rights, as well as Mickael Borot, taekwondo Champion and Olympic athlete, and Etienne Germond, rifle shooting Champion and current member of the Comité National Olympique et Sportif Français (CNOSF), who shared their experiences as top-level athletes.
