New regulation on GIs
The new Regulation (EU) No 2024/1143 on geographical indications for agricultural products of 11 April 2024 will apply from 13 May 2024 (except 3 articles whose applicability is deferred until 1 January 2025).
This new regulation will in particular:
- - strengthen the protection of GIs online and offline
- - simplify the GI registration procedure
- - extend the scope of traditional specialities guaranteed.
