The UPC Preparatory Committee approved on February 25, 2016, the Rules on Court fees and recoverable costs.

Surprisingly, the fees for opt-out and withdrawal of an opt-out, which were provided in the Rules of Procedure issued in October 2015, have now been completely cancelled. The Preparatory Committee decided to remove these fees so that the Court would not have to support additional processing costs due to these fees.

In addition, the Preparatory Committee notes that the absence of fee will simplify the processing of opt-out applications during the Sunrise period which should open before full entry into force of the UPC Agreement.
